Another few careful sweeps of his gaze over the shifting sands.

"Signs of Necrozma."

He doesn't think the creature is still here. But if they can figure out what it wants, why it was here to start, maybe he can track it down. Try and understand it better.

His Glastier whinnies softly as it trots. The sand whips around them, Cillian Quinn's pokemon helping to shield them.

"I saw reports of activities similar to the Blackout and Darkest Day in a few places around Hoenn. This was one of them."

So, it was obviously one of the top choices to look into.

Chu-e tries to think back on what little he knows about Necrozma. It had lived inside of him and eaten him for ages. Yet, it was still mostly a mystery to him as well. After all, both of it's actual appearances he was absent in some fashion. (Thought the second instance was more debatable.)

But he still knew it better than anyone else in other ways.

"Necrozma was starving and desperate. But it was not stupid. If it came out here, it had a reason. My guess was for food." The only question was... what had it wanted to eat all the way out here?

"Hmm.... maybe?" But something about that didn't seem right, either.

Chu-e lets the quiet sink between them as he rolls that thought over and over in his mind. A smooth stone; it made sense. after all.
But he could sense a little chip. An opening. Something off.

"If it was after just Avatars and Legends, wouldn't it have tried harder to stay in Sootopolis? There was a whole group of you there.
A party platter, even. So..." There is another pause as he puts pieces together. "Maybe it had the promise of a bigger meal out here?"

And now in Galar.

"It made me attack you so many times. That's the only reason I can think it passed you up."

"If it wanted easy prey, it wouldn't have went for you to start with."

It might seems like Chu-e wants to butter Cillian Quinn up with flattery. Yet, it's not. In his mind it is illogical to go after Gavin at all. That was a desperation play if Chu-e had ever seen one.

"Let's stop and eat."

Gavin seems grumpy and agitated. That can only mean a few things: that Gavin needs a nap, he wet himself, or he's hungry. Chu-e is going to bet on hunger.

Well, that didn't work. Maybe Cillian Quinn really was wet.

Chu-e is still blank. A sheet of nothing around the other. His guard and guise are dropped; as a sign of respect and trust for the other. He doesn't realize how unnerving that might be.

"I suppose so... but we'll need to find a nice spot. I made us lunch." Gavin had liked when Chu-e cooked for him, hadn't he? He seems to remember that.

THE DESERT IS AS EMPTY AS THEIR STOMACHS. hunger pangs grumble under the constant hiss of winds and sand. it promises nothing but crumbs. a void that shows nothing of interest as far as the eye can see.

the last time something of interest happened here, it was buried by the excavation that happened right under Cillian Quinn’s nose. his own part in spelunking saw an adept escape well before the temple collapsed. the cause comes second hand, from inferences and word of mouth. rumination of the truth has long been swallowed up. it sleeps in sediments just as ravenous.

which begs the same question they had pondered? what had brought NECROZMA here?

whatever the reason, it must no longer be here. for nothing exist now. in time, the a PRIMAL POINT may be housed here. but there’s no way the pokemon could have known that.
